25 Jun SAMURAI CHALLENGE 12 APRIL – 5 MAY 2017
I occasionally get to photograph in some really incredible places. This isn’t a problem as long as the subject is just as incredible as the background as you are creating a visual similar by juxtaposing the two together. Yesterday, April 26th, 2017, I was photographing the Tokyo leg of the Samurai Challenge rally.
Instead of a photographing next to some bucolic lake with Mt. Fuji in the background, I found myself in the underground parking lot of the beautiful Palace Hotel. The challenge here was lighting. Sure I could have used long exposures but the quality of the lighting was abysmal. As usual I had two Einstein strobes a silver parabolic reflector, diffuser, and a boom arm pole. As for camera, I had my Hasselblad H4D-50 with three lenses, so no feeling sorry for me if I couldn’t make something interesting. In total I spent about an hour in the parking, the following are a sampling of some of the images I created.
